Steel Panther @ The Powerstation : 26 June 2016

Lock up your Sisters, your Mothers and probably your Grandmothers! The United States’ most balls-out, pedal to the metal rock act, Steel Panther, are today announcing their June 2016 Australian Tour. They are coming to Auckland to see how things are progressing… down under.

The band will be in Australia and New Zealand to promote the release of their Live Acoustic record and feature film, “Live from Lexxi’s Mom’s Garage.” However, don’t expect acoustic performances and cups of tea from the Steel Panther boys. Expect an all-out assault on your ears, moral standing and your private parts.

“Live From Lexxi’s Mom’s Garage” is the band’s first full length film, featuring a live ten song acoustic concert interspersed with comedic vignettes showcasing the band’s unmatched shenanigans and debauchery. The one hour film is now available on DVD from Steel Panther’s label, Kobalt Records, at SteelPantherRocks.com. The album only version can be found on Amazon, iTunes, and wherever music is sold.

For the uninitiated, Steel Panther was formed in 2000 and is Michael Starr (lead singer), Satchel (guitarist), Lexxi Foxx (bass) and Stix Zadinia (drums). The fearsome foursome are not stopping anytime soon. “Our drive to bring heavy metal back has not lessened,” concludes Michael Starr. “It’s actually gotten stronger. We’re not going to stop. I look forward to our continued world domination.”

Last in Australia for Soundwave 2014, the band played main stages at the festival and drew massive numbers to their bombastic set, simultaneously offending and salaciously delighting all in attendance. In recent times, they have almost entirely sold out their UK tour, which included Wembley Stadium and played main stage at Download Festival.

Jon Toogood @ The Powerstation : 4, 5 June 2016

Jon toogood

For 2 nights this June The Powerstation will be turned into an intimate seated venue to allow you to get up close and personal with JON TOOGOOD as he performs his solo, acoustic material for a live recording project.

Following on from his Planet Of Sound shows across NZ & Australia last year – Jon will perform some of his favourite songs – from his vast and varied musical collection and some of his own from his 26 + years as an award winning performer.

“But how would Toogood fair performing an intimate solo show? Kind of like baring all to a bunch of strangers… The answer is good, no in fact great. Actually this has to be one of the best live musical performances I have seen this year. And as a music photographer I see a lot! Jon is as kiwi as they come and such a humble bloke, no pretence, no bullshit just someone who is down-to-earth with areal passion for making music.”  Stella Gardiner

Avalanche City @ The Powerstation : 3 June 2016

avalanche City

Avalanche City is set to play Powerstation Friday June 3rd on the ‘Little Fire’ tour, with support from singer/songwriter Ciaran McMeeken. The run will celebrate Avalanche City’s latest single of the same name, which has been quickly gaining favour across New Zealand as a most-added song on NZ radio.

Dave Baxter (Avalanche City) will bring music from the album – WE ARE FOR THE WILD PLACES – to some of the most beautiful venues across New Zealand on an extensive 10-date tour; his largest national run yet. Baxter will be joined on the road by his touring band, and all of the accompanying instruments one would expect of an Avalanche City performance.

Avalanche City’s long-awaited sophomore album WE ARE FOR THE WILD PLACES is the mature follow-up to an accidental hit career, launched to critical acclaim. Released last year, the record debuted at #3 on the Official Top 40 Albums Chart (and also peaked at #1 on the iTunes album chart).

The album’s beautiful first single, ‘Inside Out’ was a chart and radio smash hit – reaching #1 airplay for five consecutive weeks. The track quickly reached platinum sales and peaked at #1 on the sales chart, remaining consistently active in the top 10 on iTunes.
The second official single from the album, ‘Keep Finding A Way’ also received extensive airplay, peaking at #25 on the airplay chart.

Baxter hit the road shortly after releasing WE ARE FOR THE WILD PLACES last year, performing sold-out theatre shows in major centres throughout New Zealand and thoroughly impressing his fans in the process with the live rendition of the album.

WE ARE FOR THE WILD PLACES (mixed by Death Cab For Cutie’s Chris Walla) is a mature and fitting follow-up to Avalanche City’s debut album – OUR NEW LIFE ABOVE THE GROUND, which spawned the Silver Scroll-winning single, ‘Love Love Love’ (currently at 2.5million views on YouTube!).

Supporting Avalanche City for the full tour is singer-songwriter Ciaran McMeeken, who is drawing attention with his strong lyricism and unique blend of emotive acoustic pop.

With his self released debut EP THE VALLEY in 2014, McMeeken caught the attention of acclaimed producer Greg Haver, who worked with McMeeken to produce the seven-track SCREAMING MAN EP, receiving much acclaim upon it’s release late last year.

After a successful week-long jaunt around regional radio stations as part of the NZ On Air regional radio initiative in February and a stint rubbing shoulders with the best songwriters in the business as part of APRA-NZ On Air’s Song Hubs programme, McMeeken is excited to get back behind his guitar and play live on the Avalanche City tour.
