aNNA cODDINGTONSolo artist Anna Coddington and NYC-based duo Lips are excited to announce a headline tour where they will take to the stage as a three-piece for the first time ever!

Showcasing the multi-instrumental talent and critically acclaimed songwriting of both acts, they will play songs from their back catalogues, as well as new unheard material from both of their upcoming projects. A collaboration between old friends, the show will be a genuine partnership as they share the stage and their instruments – swapping between guitars, analog synths, drums, and vocal duties.

Steph Brown of Lips and Anna first met while sharing a room on tour nine years ago, and are delighted to be hitting the road on what will be Lips first ever tour in New Zealand and Anna’s first in two years. This combined live show promises to be a rich tapestry of sound, bursting with energy and created 100% live without the use of backing tracks or loop pedals for a unique, authentic experience.

Anna’s new song Slate, a self-produced toe-tapper about fresh starts features Steph on synths. The new offering from Lips is Traces of Teddy, a song off their upcoming album.

Anna has released two full length albums, The Lake and Cat & Bird, with a third due early next year. The new album will continue in the new direction set by 2013 singles Bird In Hand, Make You Mine and The Runner, incorporating electronic tinges for a sound that highlights Anna’s powerful voice and beautiful melodies.

Characterised by a giant pair of lips on legs, Lips is the musical project of Auckland born Stephanie Brown, and West Virginia native Fen Ikner. The duo, who originally formed in New York, now split their time between New Zealand and Brooklyn, NY, and have experienced incredible success here in New Zealand, being awarded the Silver Scroll for their song Everything To Me. Lips have released two EPs to date, Look, Listen in 2012 and Ghosts and Demons in 2013, and their debut full-length album is set for release in early 2016.

Tami Neilson @ The Tuning Fork : 25 Sep 2015

Tami NeilsonVector Arena is proud to present Silver Scroll winner Tami Neilson, in celebration of the release of her new Album, Don’t Be Afraid.

Just 18 months since the release of her award winning album Dynamite, Canadian born Tami Neilson is back with what could be her strongest songwriting to date. A moving homage to her late father Ron Neilson, a man who laid the foundations for her musical career, Don’t Be Afraid takes us on a journey fuelled by Tami’s memories and experiences of loss, mourning and striking back in the face of grief. This is a powerful collection of songs which conveys a defiant fierceness in Tami’s performance.

The first single off the album ‘Lonely’ started out as a demo recorded by Ron Neilson in 1972, outside his hotel room while on tour across Canada. Decades later, it was completed by his daughter Tami when she discovered that same demo a week after he passed away in February 2015. Such are the stories and legacies behind the songs on this very special and personal tribute.

From the opening title track ‘Don’t Be Afraid’, the last song her father ever wrote, Tami goes from strength to strength and we are left with the treasures she has collected along the way. Songs from the masterful pen of her father, her continued work with her brother Jay Neilson, co-writer of APRA Song of Year 2014, ‘Walk’, as well as co-conspirator Delaney Davidson, all fit seamlessly into this brilliant testament to one her strongest musical inspirations.

Tami, well known for her timeless, soulful voice and compelling performances will perform music from her new album at this one-off show with her band on the release date of the album.

Don’t miss this opportunity to be one of the first to hear live the much anticipated new offering from this stunning and seasoned songwriter.

‘Lonely’ – the first single from the album will be available digitally from Friday 4 September.

Neilson blends the ambience of Old West saloons with the pastel palette of a 1950s beach musical, and her soulful bellow breathes modern life into a vintage collection.

Wiz Khalifa @ Vector : 25 Sep 2015

Wiz KhalifaA lot has happened to Wiz Khalifa since he last performed in New Zealand back in 2013. The Pennsylvania rapper released his fifth album Blacc Hollywood, divorced his model wife, toured with pop punk band Fall Out Boy, gained sponsorship to support his self-proclaimed monthly marijuana bill of ten thousand dollars, and was arrested for refusing to get off a hoverboard at Los Angeles airport.

More applicable, Khalifa’s forthcoming performance at Vector Arena will support the release of the breakthrough hit ‘See You Again’. The heart-clenching collab with YouTube star-turned-producer Charlie Puth was created as a tribute to the late Paul Walker, serving in the soundtrack for the film Furious 7. Upon its release, the song broke several records, notching up almost half a billion views on Youtube in just one day and becoming the most-streamed track in one day on Spotify.
